Shanghai Harbor & Yangshan Deep-Water Port
Shanghai as a city is unique and rare in the world as having the sea and a river, both ideal for transportation, a primordial importance for a rapid expanding economy. In the north, the Huangpu River connects Shanghai to the East China Sea and the mouth of the Yangtze River which is an interior river. Boats can sail north to Beijing through the Grand Canal.
Since Shanghai port has shallow water, a new deep water port had been recently built to support the overgrowth of Shanghai's port activity and to deal with the largest container ships. The deep port had been built on the offshore islands of Greater and Lesser Yangshan and connected to the mainland through the Donghai Bridge which is the third longest bridge in the world.
